About Me

I am fascinated by our voice and I listen out for the song we have inside us composed of the notes of our very uniqueness. I am particularly interested in how the "here and now" impacts on your life in the present moment. I look out for any repeating patterns which are now no longer useful to you and may be creating difficulties in your relationships with others. I attend to the non-verbal and how you hold and embody your thoughts and emotions informed by a sensorimotor approach e.g. breathing patterns, muscle tension. I believe that the relationship between client and therapist is key to healing. As such I work relationally in a carefully attuned way. My approach is creative and experiential

What is counselling and psychotherapy?

Counselling and psychotherapy is an opportunity for you to talk to a trained professional about whatever is troubling you. It is a unique relationship which differs from a conversation with a family member or friend. It can allow you to explore your difficulties in a supportive and confidential environment in order to enhance your well being or gain deeper understanding. Counselling can support you through difficult periods in your life and can help to facilitate positive change.

What is the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?

The main difference between counselling and psychotherapy is that in order to qualify as a psychotherapist you are required to attend a longer and more in depth training as well as complete a psychiatric placement. I am a registered Gestalt Psychotherapist and completed a psychiatric placement at the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust.

What is an initial session?

An initial session is the first session we have together. This gives you the opportunity to meet me, see if we make a "good fit" as well as get a feel for what it would mean for us to work together whether in the short or long term. I will invite you to tell me about what is troubling you and what you hope to get out of counselling and psychotherapy. I may ask you questions about your current situation and your personal history in order to fully understand how to help you. There is no obligation after the initial session to continue with further sessions if you do not wish to engage in therapeutic work with me.

How to arrange an initial session?

In order to make an enquiry or arrange an initial session you can either call me on my mobile on 07951 588 612 or by email via my website. You are very welcome to talk to me before arranging an initial session if you have any questions that you would like to ask before taking the next step.

Further sessions and Fees

Sessions are 50 minutes in length and held at a regular session time on a weekly basis. How long you want to work for is entirely up to you. Some clients may want to work on a specific issue and then move on and others stay longer as they deepen their awareness and understanding through on-going reflection and exploration.

EMDR Psychotherapy or Gestalt Psychotherapy sessions are payable in either cash or cheque or in advance by bank transfer.

£80

I have a few Gestalt psychotherapy places for trainee therapists at a reduced rate.

Further contractual details can be discussed in the initial session.

Telephone Counselling or Zoom

I also offer sessions via Zoom or telephone counselling. I have found this approach to be a useful alternative to face-to-face work and have become particularly skilled in working in this way.

Do you work with singers and perfomers?

I also work with singers and performers who want to work on issues that are stopping them from reaching their full potential as creative artists such as uncovering blocks to putting in a good performance or audition due to stage fright and performance anxiety as well as exploring the intimate relationship to your "art", "creativity" and your "voice".

At risk or in immediate crisis?

If you are at risk of hurting yourself or in immediate crisis I recommend you contact your GP for an emergency appointment or go down to your local A&E.

Otherwise I recommend calling The Samaritans on 08457 909090 or Saneline on 0845 767 8000.
